This landscaping course is a trade level qualification that gives you the skills, knowledge and experience to be competent and feel confident onsite.  It is aimed at anyone looking to work on residential or commercial projects with specialist landscaping skills.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Your experience adds up and you can use this to fast-track your landscaping certification.  If you’ve got a tonne of industry experience this can be used to gain part or all of your qual.

Onsite Training

To achieve this AHC30916 Certificate III in Landscape Construction, you must demonstrate competency in 11 core units and 4 elective units. Please refer below for the core units of competency and a sample of suggested electives:

  • AHCLSC307         Implement a retaining wall project
  • AHCPCM302       Provide information on plants and their culture
  • AHCPGD301       Implement a plant establishment program
  • AHCSOL303         Implement soil improvements for garden and turf areas
  • AHCWHS301       Contribute to work health and safety processes

After completing the AHC30916 Certificate III in Landscape Construction there are pathways to meet the requirements for a Structural Landscapers Licence and a Restricted Builders Licence.

Managerial Qualification

The duration of your landscape construction courses in Brisbane and anywhere in Queensland will vary depending on your experience, skills and chosen study mode. As a guide:

  • Apprenticeship: Between 12 – 36 months depending on the type of apprenticeship and the apprentice’s ability
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): 3-6 months- this term may be extended by Funding Criteria, amount of RPL awarded and subsequent Gap Training required  – eligibility criteria apply.
  • CSQ: 
    • Program completion date is 20 September 2022 (for the Skills Assessment and Gap Training Program 2021/22 Contract).
    • Fee for Service: 3-12 months subject to the amount of RPL awarded and subsequent Gap Training required

Your skills will be assessed through a mix of practical and theory tasks. 

This is essentially showing us what you’ve learnt and how you do it.

Being a mix of theory and practical, it is not possible to conduct our Certificate III in landscape construction online. However, the theory component may be assessed Online or you may choose to leave the computer work behind and use a Workbook. 

Practical Assessment will be conducted at your place of work or worksite with fit-for-purpose facilities and equipment which are to be made available to your FTA trainer & Assessor for training and assessment purposes.
