Australia’s booming civil infrastructure sector is expected to create plenty of building and construction jobs in the first half of 2019, according to Hays Recruitment company.

The Federal Government has promised $75 billion for transport infrastructure, as one of the major drivers behind the industries demand. Notwithstanding, the nation’s growing population.

Further evidence of our booming industry comes from the Q3 2018 Crane Index. As a result of infrastructure development, we saw a record high of 735 cranes across our skylines in late 2018.

Further afield, figures from the Australian Construction Industry forum are predicting an additional $1 billion in residential building in 2020 and a stronger than expected non-residential construction activity.

Queensland

Civil construction workers with experience in Transport and Main Roads (TMR) are predicted to grow in demand as companies fulfil tender opportunities. Particular demand is stressed for Project Managers with 10+ years’ experience, experienced site engineers and project engineers.

The Inland Rail, Cross River Rail and Brisbane Metro projects are expected to boost demand for experienced rail candidates.

Perth

Demand for construction and engineering skills will intensify in Western Australia as a result to the Metro net and major mining projects.

Northern Territory

General construction skills shortages are expected to continue in the Territory.

Adelaide

Site Engineers, Project Engineers, Estimators and Project Managers are all skills expected to be in high demand especially, candidates with road and rail experience.  In mid to late 2019, several government-funded projects will enter the delivery phase which should boost demand in South Australia.

New South Wales

Experienced Supervisors, Project engineers and Estimators with exposure to tunneling, roads and rail projects are forecasted to propel the civil job market in Sydney.

Tasmania

Calling all Project Mangers to the land down ‘unda! Tasmania is seeking High-rise construction and civil construction project managers.
