What you’ll learn

This wall and floor tiling course is a trade level qualification that gives you the skills, knowledge and experience to be competent and feel confident onsite.  It is aimed at anyone looking to work on residential or commercial projects with specialist tiling skills.

Ways to study

Recognition of Prior Learning

Your experience adds up and you can use this to fast-track your qualification.  If you’ve got a tonne of industry experience this can be used to gain part or all of your qual.

Onsite Training

We like to think this is a bit of a game changer! Learn onsite, while you work. This means less time off the tools and more time focused on practical skills.

Apprenticeship

Get qualified while you earn! Apprenticeships are the best in to the industry for school leavers and a great way for long-timers to finally get qualified. Which one are you?

This qualification meets one of the requirements for a you to obtain a licence with your states regulatory body. Please consult with your local authority to ensure you are eligible and meet other criteria prior to commencing studies with us.

Wall and Floor Tiling

Scope of Work

  • Cut and fix tile, including ceramic, glass, marble, slate, stone and terracotta tiles, to fireplaces, floors, hearths, spas, swimming pools and walls
  • Construct terrazzo floors, steps, risers and stringers
  • Apply waterproofing for wall and floor tiling
  • Incidental work of another class.

Qualifications Required

Any one of the following:

  1. Successful completion of either an apprenticeship in wall and floor tiling or the CPC31311 Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling.
  2. Successful completion of a course the authority considers is at least equivalent to a course mentioned above.
  3. A recognition certificate as a qualified wall and floor tiler
  4. A qualification or statement of attainment of required competency for the class of licence.

Managerial Qualification

Keen to get your trade contractor or nominee supervisor licence? After the completion of this qualification we recommend that you undertake an Approved Managerial Course for Trade Contractors. The course duration will vary depending on your experience, skills and chosen study mode. As a guide:

  • Apprenticeship: Between 12 – 42 months depending on the type of apprenticeship and the apprentice’s ability
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): 3-6 months – eligibility criteria apply
  • CSQ: Program completion date is 30 September 2020 (for the Skills Assessment and Gap Training Program 2019/20 Contract).

Expect a blend of practical and theoretical assessment.
