How Can We Help?

How do I become a vocational trainer/assessor?

You Ask – We Answer

A strong training sector is important for the future of Australia.

Great trainers are important components of a strong training industry. If you have skills and experience to share and an interest in passing your knowledge on to others, then training could be a rewarding new career path for you. Training is the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies as a result of the teaching of skills and knowledge.

‘Training has specific goals of improving one’s capability, capacity, productivity and performance.’ (Wikipedia)

Many trainers work in Australia’s vocational education system. The vocational system is made up of Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s) such as Foundation Training Australia. To train and assess in vocational education, you will need the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, have industry qualifications, industry competency and currency (experience)  across all the units you train and assess. You have to maintain your vocational, TAE and industry currency once you are engaged by an RTO.

The TAE40116 teaches you how the vocational training system works in Australia and how to deliver and assess vocational qualification including developing assessments. Trainers also require great customer service, communication, technology and organisation skills to engage successfully with industry employers and students. FTA regard these skills highly so we can guide our students to reach their ‘human potential’

Check out the link below on what RTO’s and trainers are required to meet to deliver a quality student experience and also meet legislation.
