If your goal is to work in quarry operations or extractive mines with mammoth earth moving equipment – this is the course for you. Or, maybe you’re already in the space and it’s finally time to get qualified. Either way, upon successful completion of this qualification, you will be skilled to work across a number of industry sectors such as Mechanical Engineering, Mineral Mining Exploration, Coal Mining, Quarrying and more.

This course covers the technical and practical skills in operating light vehicles, conduct hydraulic excavator, wheel loader and dozer operations as well how to provide first aid and respond to site based spills.

This surface extraction course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to confidently work in surface extraction. It is aimed at anyone wanting to work in roles that operate large earthmoving equipment in the mining or quarry industries.

Course Duration

The course duration will vary depending on your experience, skills and chosen study mode. As a guide:

  • Between 12 – 24 months depending on your current experience and skills
  • Recognition of prior learning (RPL): 3-6 months – eligibility criteria apply

Assessment

This Certificate III requires learners to keep a logbook throughout their training and complete theory and practical based assessments.

We require our students to be currently working in the industry with guidance from a trade qualified personnel.
