Parks and gardens are at the centre of community and supporting infrastructure within a green environment. The AHC30616 Certificate III in Parks and Gardens will give you the skills and knowledge to start your career in maintaining and creating public green spaces.

In this course you’ll gain skills in tree inspections, soil analysis, controlling weeds and plant pests and how to inspect park facilities. This course can give you multiple pathway options across the horticultural industry.

What you’ll learn

This parks and gardens course is aimed at anyone looking to kick start their career in parks, gardens or landscaping. Throughout this course you will develop the necessary skills and knowledge to work in the management and maintenance of public and private parks, reserves and gardens, natural bushland and community recreation areas.

To achieve this qualification, you must demonstrate competency in X core units and X elective units from the options below.

The course duration will vary depending on your experience, skills and chosen study mode. As a guide:

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): 3-6 months- this term may be extended by Funding Criteria, amount of RPL awarded and subsequent Gap Training required  – eligibility criteria apply.
  • Fee for Service: 3-12 months subject to the amount of RPL awarded and subsequent Gap Training required

Your skills will be assessed through a mix of practical and theory tasks. Which is essentially showing us what you’ve learnt and how you do it.

Theory may be assessed Online or via Workbook. Practical Assessment will be conducted at your place of work or work site with fit for purpose facilities and equipment which are to be made available to your FTA trainer & Assessor for training and assessment purposes.
