In this course, you will learn how to responsibly install underground pipes on major infrastructure projects such as highways or bridges, gain an understanding of using mixed materials to facilitate stormwater, sewerage and water-supply.

Course Structure

What you’ll learn

This civil construction courses is the accepted entry-level qualification required to work on Tier1 and Tier2 construction sites. It is aimed at anyone wanting to work in roles that support infrastructure projects or involves pipe laying, operating large earthmoving equipment and road construction.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Your experience adds up and you can use this to fast-track your qualification.  If you’ve got a tonne of industry experience this can be used to gain part or all of your qual.

Onsite Training

We like to think this is a bit of a game changer! Learn onsite, while you work. This means less time off the tools and more time focused on practical skills.

Apprenticeship

Get qualified while you earn! Apprenticeships are the best in to the industry for school leavers and a great way for long-timers to finally get qualified. Which one are you?

Course Duration

The course duration will vary depending on your experience, skills and chosen study mode. As a guide:

  • Apprenticeship: Between 12 – 36 months depending on the type of apprenticeship and the apprentice’s ability
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): 3-6 months- this term may be extended by Funding Criteria, amount of RPL awarded and subsequent Gap Training required  – eligibility criteria apply
  • CSQ: Program completion date is 30 September 2020 (for the Skills and Gap Training program 2019/20 Contract).
  • Fee for service: 3-12 months subject to the amount of RPL awarded and subsequent Gap Training required

Assessment

Your skills will be assessed through a mix of practical and theory tasks. Which is essentially showing us what you’ve learnt and how you do it.

Theory may be assessed Online or via Workbook. Practical Assessment will be conducted at your place of work or work site with fit for purpose facilities and equipment which are to be made available to your FTA trainer & Assessor for training and assessment purposes.
