Course Structure

This landscaping course is an entry-level trade qualification that gives you the skills, knowledge and experience to be competent and feel confident onsite.  It is aimed at anyone looking to start their career in landscaping.

Ways to study


Sometimes we like to do it old-school! If you’re better on the tools than on a computer – we’ve got your back! At FTA, we’re determined to ensure you learn how you learn best.

Pre-employment program

Open the door for full-time Apprenticeship opportunities with FTA’s pre-employment programs. These courses are specifically designed to build your capability and knowledge with job ready skills for your chosen trade.

Onsite Training

We like to think this is a bit of a game changer! Learn onsite, while you work. This means less time off the tools and more time focused on practical skills.

To achieve this qualification, you must demonstrate competency in X core units and X elective units from the options below.

  • AHCWHS201 Participate in work health and safety processes

As a graduate, you have the opportunity to extend your training into an AHC30916 Certificate III in Landscape Construction under a full-time Apprenticeship. Ask out team about your career pathway options.

The course duration will vary depending on your experience, skills and chosen study mode. As a guide:

  • Fee for service: 6 -12 months subject to the amount of RPL awarded and subsequent Gap Training required.

Your skills will be assessed through a mix of practical and theory tasks. Which is essentially showing us what you’ve learnt and how you do it.

Theory may be assessed Online or via Workbook. Practical Assessment will be conducted at your place of work or work site with fit for purpose facilities and equipment which are to be made available to your FTA trainer & Assessor for training and assessment purposes.
